To improve the medical treatment at Zion Clinic, the next investment at our Clinic will be in setting up a freezer. The first steps have been taken. We have solar power to offer us electricity and the company Dulas from the UK donated a freezer (5100 €). Nethertheless, we still have to pay for transportation, clearance fees and taxes that will cost us another 10 Million Shillings (~2500 €) before we can set up the freezer.
The freezer will allow us to finally make vaccinations accesible. Right now, the people living in the mountaineos region of Mount Elgon have to hike 8 km on small paths up and down the mountain to reach the next hospital that’s providing vaccinations. As a result, a big amount nether receives any vaccines. Zion Clinic is settled in the middle of the mountain and therefore the perfect place to support the locals.
Once we have a freezer at our facility, the government will supply us with vaccines against:
In Children: Polio, Tuberculosis, Diphtheria, Whooping cough, Tetanus, Hepatitis B, HiB, Meningitis, Streptococcus Pneumonia, Rotavirus, Measels, Chicken Pox
In Adolescents: HPV, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Whooping cough, Yellow fever, Typhoid fever, Hepatitis B, Covid-19
