Zion Community Poultry Project

Poultry Project

This project was started by our volunteer Michelle from Malaysia in September 2022. She donated 100 000 Ugandan Shilling (~ 25€) to pay for 15 chickens. The aim of this project is to give the youth economical education, some independence and teach them to take responsibility.

At the moment, by laying several eggs from which we could grow more chicken, we were able to increase our livestock to 56 hens and roosters, occupying 42 youths. That means, the value has risen from 100 000 Ugandan Schilling to around 1 million Ugandan Shilling (~ 250€). Besides the worth of the meat, these animals give our youth and our community a steady income through eggs and manure.

If you want to support this project, then your donations will be used to cover the running costs for vaccinations, medications and feeding supplements, which are around 50 €/ year per chicken. We hope to grow this project to engage more youths and raise more money for the community.
