Peanuts are grown locally and are an imporant source of protein. They are most often used in sauces or eaten as peanut butter. To mill their peanuts, people from our area have to travel over up to two hours to Mbale and pay not only for the milling process, but also for the travel. That is why we started our peanut butter project in 2022. After saving 2.5 Million Shilling (~625€) through donations, our women bought a peanut butter mill. Once we received all the missing parts (cost: 4.5 Million Shilling, ~1100€), the mill will allow us to process the peanuts for the people in the region. The profit will be used to support our women and thereby improve the quality of life in our community.
